Let \(L\) be a Lie algebra over a field of characteristic 0 with universal enveloping algebra \(U(L)\) and let \(L\) act as derivations on an associative algebra \(R\). Let \(\Delta_ L\) be the join of the finite- dimensional ideals of \(L\). In the first part of this paper [ibid. 133, 277-312 (1990; Zbl 0717.16023)] the authors showed that the so-called linear identities of the twisted smash product \(R\# U(L)\) are controlled by the ideal \(\Delta= \{\ell\in L\mid \dim[\ell, L]<\infty\}\). The purpose of the paper under review is to sharpen this result by proving that these identities are in fact controlled by \(\Delta_ L\). The main difficulties concern the reduction from \(\Delta\) to \(\Delta_ L\) for which techniques quite different from those in the first part of the paper are needed. As a consequence, results are obtained characterizing the semi-invariants and the extended centroid of \(U(L)\) as well as the units of the symmetric ring of quotients of \(U(L)\) inducing X-automorphisms of \(U(L)\).
