The main result reads, \[ \begin{aligned} (1-t)^{-d} & \sum {C(m_ 1,\ldots,m_ n) (d,m_ 1+\cdots+m_ n)(k_ 1,m_ 1)\cdots(k_ n,m_ n) \over(k_ 1+ \cdots+k_ n,m_ 1+\cdots+m_ n)} [t/(1-t)]^{m_ 1+\cdots+m_ n} \\ = & \sum {d,m_ 1+\cdots+m_ n)(k_ 1,m_ 1) \cdots(k_ n,m_ n) t^{m_ 1+\cdots+m_ n} \over(k_ 1+ \cdots+k_ n,m_ 1+\cdots+m_ n)m_ 1!\dots m_ n!} \\ \times & \sum^ \infty_{p_ 1,\ldots,p_ n=0}C(p_ 1,\dots,p_ n)(- 1)^{p_ 1+\cdots+p_ n} (-m_ 1,p_ 1) \cdots(-m_ n,p_ n).\end{aligned} \] \(C\) denotes an arbitrary multiple sequence, and in the two unmarked summations, indices \(m_ 1,\dots,m_ n\) run from 0 to \(+\infty\). To prove the formula, the author utilizes the reduction formula \(F_ D^{(n)} [a;b_ 1,\dots,b_ n;b_ 1+ \cdots+b_ n;t,\dots,t] =(1-t)^{-a}\) together with a multivariable extension of Bailey's transform previously established by the author. (The proof may be carried out directly by series manipulations without this transform.) A confluent form of the main result is also given. Finally, quite a few particular cases involving hypergeometric functions are listed.
