Construction of multi-resolution analysis is based on properties of the ``scale-function'' \(\varphi\), which is defined as a solution of some functional equation. A Fourier transform of \(\varphi\) is represented by an infinite product. The paper is devoted to the characterization of regularity properties of \(\varphi\) in terms of the growth of such infinite product. The problem is also interpreted in terms of the invariant measure for some dynamical system.
