    The boundary value problem (1) \(x''(t)+p(t) x'(t)+q(t) x(t)=f(t,x(t), x( \varphi (t)))\) \(t \in [t_ 0,t_ 1]\), \(a_ jx(t)-(-1)^ jb_ j x'(t)=\alpha_ j(t)\), \(t \in I_ j\) is considered where \(\varphi \in C([t_ 0,t_ 1])\), \(I_ 1=[s_ 0,t_ 0]\), \(I_ 2=[t_ 1,s_ 1]\), \(s_ 0=\min \{t_ 0,\min_{t \in [t_ 0,t_ 1]} \varphi (t)\}\), \(s_ 1=\max \{t_ 1,\max_{t \in[t_ 0,t_ 1]} \varphi(t)\}\), \(a_ j,b_ j \geq 0\), \(a_ j+b_ j>0\) and \(\alpha_ j \in L(I_ j)\) \((j=1,2)\). Sufficient conditions for the existence of the least and the greatest solutions of (1) are established.
