Regulating subgroups and the regulator of almost completely decomposable groups (Q2366581)

Let \(G\) be an almost completely decomposable torsion-free abelian group of finite rank. A regulating subgroup of \(G\) is a completely decomposable subgroup of minimal index, and the regulator of \(G\) is the intersection of all regulating subgroups of \(G\). Given a completely decomposable subgroup of \(G\) of finite index, the authors establish an algorithm deriving a regulating subgroup. This leads to the determination of all regulating subgroups and the regulator. In some special cases, a formula is established for the number of regulating subgroups of \(G\).
