It is known that to any Lie bialgebra \(L\) there correspond classical doubles (Lie algebra structure in \({\mathbf L}= L+L^*)\) and Manin pairs. The aim of this paper is to generalize the construction of classical doubles to Jacobian quasi-bialgebras (also called Lie quasi-bialgebras) and to, so called, proto-Lie bialgebras. A Lie quasi-bialgebra is defined on a vector space \(F\) by the Lie bracket \(\mu\in \Hom(\Lambda^ 2 F,F)\) and a cobracket \(\nu\in \Hom(F, \Lambda^ 2 F)\), that will be a 1- cocycle. For defining a Jacobian quasi-Lie bialgebra one should add \(\varphi\) from the exterior cube of \(F\) such that \({1\over 2} [\nu,\nu]+ [\mu,\varphi]=0\), \([\nu,\varphi]=0\) (here \([ , ]\) is the Shouten bracket). For generalizing these algebras to proto-Lie bialgebras it is necessary to define four mappings \(\mu\), \(\nu\), \(\varphi\) and \(\psi\) from the exterior cube of \(F^*\) fulfilling the following five conditions: \[ {\textstyle {1\over 2}}[\mu,\mu]+ [\nu,\psi]=0,\quad [\mu,\nu]+ [\varphi,\psi]=0, \qquad {\textstyle {1\over 2}}[\nu,\nu]+ [\mu,\varphi]=0,\quad [\mu,\psi]=0,\;[\nu,\varphi]=0. \] These conditions are equivalent to the condition that \({\mathbf M}= \mu+\nu+ \varphi+\psi\) is a Lie bracket in \({\mathbf F}= F+F^*\). In this case \((F,\mu,\nu, \varphi,\psi)\) is called a proto-Lie bialgebra, and \(({\mathbf F},{\mathbf M})\) is called its double. In all cases the double is not only a Lie algebra, but also a Jacobian quasi-Lie bialgebra which is quasi- triangular.
