Let \({\mathfrak A}\) be an algebra of sets of integers such that each set in \({\mathfrak A}\) has asymptotic density. The space \({\mathfrak L}^{*q}({\mathfrak A})\) is defined as the closure of \({\mathfrak A}\)-simple functions in the norm \[ \limsup_{x\to\infty} \Bigl( x^{-1} \sum_{n\leq x} | f(n)|^ q\Bigr)^{1/q}. \] Properties of functions of these classes and properties of the classes as Banach spaces are studied. For instance, Theorem 5.2 asserts that for \(1\leq q<\infty\) all elements of \({\mathfrak L}^{*q} ({\mathfrak A})\) possess a limiting distribution, a mean value, and absolute moments of order \(r\) for \(1\leq r\leq q\). The dual spaces of these spaces are described; for \(1<q<\infty\), the dual of \({\mathfrak L}^{*q}({\mathfrak A})\) is isomorphic to \({\mathfrak L}^{*q'}({\mathfrak A})\), where \(1/q_ 1+1/q'=1\).
