Let \(E(x)\) be the number of even \(n\leq x\) which are not Goldbach- numbers, i.e. not representable as a sum of two primes. The following short interval result was proved by \textit{A. Perelli} and \textit{J. Pintz} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 47, 41-49 (1993)] \[ E(x+H)-E(x)\ll_ A H(\ln x)^{-A} \] if \(x^{7/36+\varepsilon} \leq H\leq N\) and \(A\) is any positive number. This was shown by the use of the circle method and zero density results. In the present paper the author successfully combines analytical tools and the Iwaniec-Rosser linear sieve [see \textit{H. Iwaniec}, Acta Arith. 37, 307-320 (1980; Zbl 0444.10038)] to get the remarkable improvement \(x^{7/48+\varepsilon}\leq H\leq N\).
