The exceptional domain is the Hermitian symmetric space associated with the \(3\times 3\) Hermitian matrices over the Cayley numbers, which can be embedded into \(\mathbb{C}^{27}\). The author continues earlier work of \textit{W. L. Baily} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 92, 512-549 (1970; Zbl 0202.079)] and \textit{M. Karel} [Abh. Math. Semin. Univ. Hamb. 62, 81-116 (1992; Zbl 0778.11027)] on the Eisenstein series defined on this exceptional domain. He defines a non-analytic Eisenstein series using the Hecke-trick and considers the analytic continuation. This leads to singular automorphic forms of weight 4 and 8 for the full modular group. They are analogs of the theta series on the Siegel, Hermitian and quaternionic half-space. This paper also answers an open question of \textit{H. L. Resnikoff} [Am. J. Math. 95, 321-332 (1973; Zbl 0276.32023)] on the existence of non-trivial singular automorphic forms. The proof uses an analog of a method of Shimura and verifies a conjecture of Nagaoka.
