On the unitarizability of principal series representations of \(\mathfrak p\)- adic Chevalley groups (Q2367487)

This paper determines the unitarizability of unramified principal series representations of \(p\)-adic Chevalley groups of classical type. In particular, if \(\chi\) is an unramified quasi-character of a split Cartan subgroup \(T\), the author considers the representation induced from the extension of \(\chi\) to a Borel subgroup containing \(T\). If the induced representation is irreducible, the paper analyzes its unitarizability. In some cases the results give necessary and sufficient conditions for unitarizability; in others, the results give an inductive procedure which allow the unitarizability to be determined. The author notes that this paper corrects some errors which appeared in an earlier announcement [Proc. Japan Acad., Ser. A 65, 227-230 (1989; Zbl 0728.20038)].
