Let \(B\) denote the open unit ball of the complex Hilbert space \(X\) and let \(\rho: B\times B\to [0,\infty)\) be the hyperbolic metric on \(B\) given by \(\rho(x,y)=\text{tanh}^{-1}(1-\sigma(x,y))^{1\over 2}\), where \(\sigma(x,y)= {{(1-| x|)^ 2)(1-| y|^ 2)} \over {| 1-(x,y)|^ 2}}\). If \(D\subset B\), a mapping \(T: D\to B\) is said to be \(\rho\)-nonexpansive if \(\rho(Tx,Ty)\leq \rho(x,y)\) for all \(x,y\in D\). In this paper the author presents new results of ergodic type for \(\rho\)- nonexpansive mappings in \(B\). The two main theorems are the analogues in this context to the theorems for nonexpansive mappings given by \textit{R. E. Bruck} [Isr. J. Math. 32, 107-116 (1979; Zbl 0423.47024)] and \textit{B. Beauzaumy} and \textit{P. Enflo} [Ark. Math. 23, 19-34 (1985; Zbl 0608.47061)].
