The sum of the \(m\)th powers of the zeros of the generalized Bessel polynomial (Q2367631)

The author obtains formulas for the sum of the \(m\)-th powers of the zeros of generalized Bessel polynomials associated to the differential equation \(x^ 2y''+(ax+2)y'-n(n+a-1)y=0\), for arbitrary \(a\). These sums are also expressed in functions of the generalized Hawkins polynomials introduced by the author [Mathematika 37, 305-315 (1990; Zbl 0701.11006)]. There are obtained many properties of the generalized Hawkins polynomials and there are given explicit formulas for their coefficients. The paper includes suggestive examples and motivations.
