Let \(\Omega\subset P\) be a relatively open bounded subset of \(D\), where \(D\subseteq X\) and \(X\) is a real Banach space. The authors extend the definition of index for maps \(A: \overline\Omega\to X\), where \(\Omega\) is bounded. \(A\) is weakly inward with respect to \(D\) and there is a special retraction \(r: X\to D\). The main point is the fact that \(\text{Fix}(Ar)=\text{Fix}(A)\). He shows that this index satisfies the usual properties of an index.
