The authors consider the generalized prey-predator model \(\dot x=xg(x)- yp(x)\), \(\dot y=yG(x,y)\). They give an increasing set of conditions for the following propositions to hold: 1. All solutions initiating in \(\mathbb{R}^ 2_ +\) are ultimately in a bounded region \(B\subset \mathbb{R}^ 2_ +\). 2. There is a positive equilibrium point \(E\) in the interior of \(B\). 3. Depending on the slope of the prey isocline and the modulus of \(G_ y\) in \(E\), \(E\) is a sink or a source. 4. In the latter case there exists a limit cycle enclosing \(E\), which is globally stable from the outside.
