In 1964 V. I. Arnol'd introduced a concept which is now known as Arnol'd diffusion. It is a complicated phenomenon closely related to the stability problem of the Hamiltonian systems. Arnol'd himself conjectured that such phenomenon occurs in the three-body problem. In this paper the existence of the Arnol'd diffusion in the elliptic restricted three-body problem is proved. The transversal homoclinic orbits in the circular restricted three-body problem are used as the starting point of the construction. The existence of the Arnol'd diffusion also shows that the elliptic restriction three-body problem is nonintegrable.
