In 1937 \textit{I. M. Vinogradov} [Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 15, 169-172 (1937; Zbl 0016.29101)] proved that there is a number \(N_ 0\) beyond which every odd number is a sum of three odd primes. In a previous paper [Acta Math. Sin. 32, 702-718 (1989; Zbl 0695.10041)] the authors proved that \(N_ 0=\exp(\exp (11.503))\) is an admissible value. Here the authors prove that, under the assumption of the generalized Riemann hypothesis, \(N_ 0=\exp(114)\) is already an admissible value. The hypothesis is used to give more efficient explicit estimates for what are essentially sums involving primes in arithmetic progressions.
