From the author's summary: Primitive harmonic maps of finite type from a Riemann surface \(M\) into a \(k\)-symmetric space \(G\slash H\) are obtained. The author also clarifies and generalizes \textit{Y. Ohnita} and \textit{S. Udagawa}'s result about homogeneous projections \(p:G\slash H\to G\slash K,\) \(H\subset K,\) preserving the finite-type property for primitive harmonic maps [Contemp. Math. 308, 245--270 (2002; Zbl 1028.58020)].
