In this paper Ky Fan-type inequalities (i.e., inequalities for power means involving the arguments \(x_i\) and \(1-x_i\)) as well as inequalities for symmetric means are investigated by studying the behavior of means under equal increments of their variables. The equivalence of various interesting inequalities involving means is also obtained.
