The author introduces three notions of membership of a fuzzy point to a fuzzy set and the corresponding notions of neighborhood in the context of Šostak fuzzy topological spaces. He shows that these three neighborhood structures are equivalent and characterize fuzzy topological spaces and continuity of maps between fuzzy topological spaces.
