The authors introduce and study a scale \(BMO_{L^{p,q}}\) of Lorentz-BMO spaces on the bitorus T\(^2\) and show that these spaces are different for distinct \(p,q.\) Here \(BMO_{L^{p,q}}\) is defined to consist of all \(\varphi\in\text{T}^2\) such that \(\sup_{R\in {\mathcal R}} \| P_R\varphi \| _{L^{p,q}_R}<\infty,\) where for dyadic intervals \(R=I\times J\in\mathbb{R}\) one has \(P_R\varphi=(\varphi-m_I\varphi-m_J\varphi+m_{I\times J})\chi_{I\times J}.\) Here \(m_I\varphi, m_J\varphi, m_{I\times J}\varphi\) are averages of \(f\) in the first, second and both variables, respectively, and \(\chi_{I\times J}\) stands for the characteristic function of the dyadic interval \(I\times J.\) The main tool of investigation is a technique developed by \textit{L. Carleson}, [A counterexample for measures bounded on \(H^p\) for the bi-disc, Mittag-Leffler Report No. 7 (1974)].
