The following result is established: A regular Fréchet space \(X\) is a closed image of a locally compact metric space if and only if \(X\) has a point-countable \(k\)-network and each of its closed first-countable subsets is locally compact. Some related facts concerning the closed or quotient \(s\)-images of locally compact metric spaces are also obtained.
