Let \(G\) be a denumerable Abelian group and \(\pi: G \to U(H)\) a representation of \(G\), where \(U(H)\) is the group of unitary operators on a Hilbert space \(H\). A representation is then called admissible if there are vectors \(\{ v_1, \ldots, v_n\} \subset H\) such that \(\{ \pi(g) v_n: g \in G\), \(n=1, \ldots, N\}\) is a Bessel sequence with dense span in \(H\). If \(\{ \pi(g) v_n : g \in G\), \(n=1, \ldots, N\}\) is even a frame, then \(\pi\) is called a frame representation. The vectors \(v_1, \ldots, v_n\) are called admissible vectors or frame vectors for \(\pi\), respectively. The authors then obtain some characterisation and structure theorems regarding such representations. Among other properties, they show that every admissible representation is a frame representation, and they give a characterisation of such representations and of the corresponding frame vectors. They also characterise when Bessel sequences \(\{ \pi(g) v_n : g\in G\), \(n=1, \ldots, N\}\) and \(\{ \pi(g) w_n: g\in G\), \(n=1, \ldots, N\}\) are orthogonal, and when they are dual frames of each other. Particular attention is paid to the case \(H= l^2(G)\).
