The author provides explicit minimax formulas for the subspace distance. These formulas improve Theorem 8.2.2 from the book of \textit{G. H. Golub} and \textit{C.~F.~Van Loan} [Matrix computations, 3rd ed. Baltimore, MD: The Johns Hopkins Univ. Press (1996; Zbl 0865.65009)]. Also a minimax representation in terms of \(l_2\) vector norm for singular values of a matrix is provided.
