One of the highlights of the theory of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle is the celebrated Baxter Theorem, which states that for a measure \(d\mu=wdt+\mu_s\) with Verblunsky coefficients \(\alpha=\{\alpha_n(\mu)\}\) \(\alpha\in\ell_\nu\) if and only if \(\mu_s=0\), \(w\) is positive and continuous on the unit circle, and the sequence \(c\) of the Fourier coefficients of \(\log w\) belongs to \(\ell_\nu\). Here \(\ell_\nu\) is the Banach algebra of two-sided sequences \(f=\{f_n\}_{n\in\mathbb Z}\) with \[ \| f\| _\nu=\sum_{n=-\infty}^\infty \nu(n)| f_n| <\infty, \] \(\nu(n)\) is a strong Beurling weight: \(R=\lim_{n\to +\infty}\nu(n)^{1/n}=1\). The authors suggest an extension of this result for the case \(R>1\). Now \(w\) is replaced by the product \(| p| ^2w\), where \(p\) is a polynomial with no zeros on the unit circle.
