The Fontain-Mazur conjecture [\textit{J.- M. Fontaine} and \textit{B. C. Mazur}, Geometric Galois representations. Elliptic curves, modular forms, and Fermat's last theorem. Proceedings ot the conference on elliptic curves and modular forms held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, December 18--21, 1993. Cambridge, MA: International Press. Ser. Number Theory 1, 41--78 (1995; Zbl 0839.14011)] states that a \(p\)-adic geometric odd irreducible representation \(\rho\) of dimension 2 of the Galois group of \(\mathbb Q\), comes from a modular form. A consequence of the conjecture is that \(\rho\) is a member of a compatible system of Galois representations. \textit{L. V. Dieulefait} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 577, 147--151 (2004; Zbl 1065.11037)] proves that under certain hypotheses this latter fact holds. The aim of this paper is to give weaker hypotheses under which the result of Dieulefait is true. To prove the results, the author uses a recent result of \textit{M. Kisin} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 21, No. 2, 513--546 (2008; Zbl 1205.11060)].
