    In the literature the cone of attainable directions to a set \(S\) in a normed linear real space \(E\) at \(x_0\) is defined as \[ A(S,x_0) = \{ v \in E : \exists \delta > 0, \exists \varphi : [0, \delta ) : \varphi(0) = x_0, \varphi(t) \in S, \forall t \in (0,\delta), \varphi^{\prime}(0) = v \}. \] In this paper the following sets are introduced. Let \(S\) be a nonempty subset of \(E\) and let \(x_0 \in cl S\). \[ A_1(S,x_0) = \{ v \in E : \exists \{ \delta_n \} \in SCS \wedge \exists \{u_n\} \rightarrow 0: x_0 + \delta_n v + \delta_nu_n \in S, \forall n \in I\!\!N \}, \] \[ A_2(S,x_0) = \{ v \in E : \exists \{ \delta_n \} \in SCS \wedge \exists \{v_n\} \rightarrow v : x_0 + \delta_n v_n \in S, \forall n \in I\!\!N \}, \] where SCS denotes the set of all slowly convergent sequences to 0. The authors provide the following characterization of the cone of attainable directions \[ A_1(S,x_0) = A_2(S,x_0) = A(S,x_0). \]
