Let \(R\) be a commutative noetherian ring and \(I\) an ideal of \(R\). The aim of this paper is to extend the notion of Ratliff-Rush ideal of \(I\). Let \(M\) be a finitely generated \(R-\)module. Let \(r(I,M):=\bigcup_{k\geq 1} (I^{k+1}M: I^{k}M),\) be the Ratliff-Rush ideal associated with \(I\) and \(M\). The authors investigate several properties of this notion, the first one is the involution that is \(r(r(I,M),M)=r(I,M)\), then they relate it to the integral closure proving that if \(I\) is a regular ideal (i.e. \(I\) contains a regular element) then there exists a rank \(1\) module \(M\) such that \(r(I,M)=\overline I\). Next they study some properties of the associated rings to the filtrations \(r(I^n,M)\), in particular they show that if \(I\) is a regular ideal the function \(l(r(I^n,M)/r(I^n,R)\) is a polynomial function.
