The paper studies the asymptotic behavior of perturbations of planar wave solutions arising as equilibrium solutions in the Cahn-Hilliard equation in multiple space dimensions. In comparison with the one-dimensional case, the multiple space dimension makes more difficult the analysis of standing waves due to the cubic scaling that occurs for the leading eigenvalue of the linearized operator about a standing wave solution. The spectral stability is investigated in terms of an associated Evans function. Then, under the assumption of spectral stability, the asymptotic stability is established for some initial perturbations. Methods related to conservation laws with diffusive and/or dispersive regularity are suitably adapted to the studied problem.
