The authors develop a mathematical approach which can be used to study some properties of solutions to a class of biochemical models. In the first sections of the article, the theoretical setting is discussed, followed by applications of the abstract results to various problems in biochemistry. Theoretical results are obtained for solutions to a general abstract system of differential equations, under some hypotheses which are appropriate for applications to biochemical systems. Under suitable conditions, and by employing a fixed point theorem, the authors prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this system of differential equations. Asymptotic and stability analysis is performed in both, linear and nonlinear cases. The applicability of the abtract results is tested on some models arising from biochemistry, such as: Mg\(^{++}\) buffering on ATP, a balance sheet of Krebs cycle, aconitase reactions, Michaelis-Menten model, creatine kinase reaction and a sequel of catalysed reactions. At the end of the paper, some numerical simulations are presented, which illustrate the theoretical results.
