In this paper the authors use the techniques of differential subordinations in the complex plane and that of convolution, to introduce certain subclasses of analytic functions on the unit disk. In particular, they obtain various subclasses of analytic functions that have been previously investigated by Padmanabhan and Parvatham; Padmanabhan and Manjini, etc. Let \({\mathcal A}\) denote the usual class of normalized analytic functions on the unit disk. Let \(h\) be an analytic function on the unit disk \(U\) such that \(h\) is convex (univalent) on \(U\), \(h(0)=1\) and \(\Re h(z)>0\) for \(z\in U\). Also, let \({\mathcal R}_a(h,\alpha)\) be the subclass of \({\mathcal A}\) consisting of those functions \(f\) which satisfy the following condition: \[ (k_a*f)'(z)+\alpha z(k_a*f)''(z)\prec h(z),\quad z\in U. \] Here \(\alpha\geq 0\), \(a\) is a real number and \(k_a(z)=z/(1-z)^a\), \(z\in U\). One of the main results of this paper is Theorem 7, in which the authors prove that \({\mathcal R}_{a+1}(h,\alpha)\subset {\mathcal R}_a(h,\alpha)\).
