Using the classical umbral calculus syntax introduced by \textit{G. Rota} and \textit{B. Taylor} [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 25, 694--711 (1994; Zbl 0797.05006)] new, compact expressions for \(k\)-statistics and \(U\)-statistics are developed. This symbolic method extends naturally to multivariate cases and to generalized \(k\)-statistics.
