This paper generalizes the authors' results [Comput. Math. Appl. 50, 1587--1602 (2005; Zbl 1087.65031)]. Right Gauss-type preconditioners that eliminate strictly upper triangular elements are proposed. They are partly derived from the \(LU\) factorization method. Theoretical analysis about the spectral radii of the two kinds of Gauss type preconditioners is given. Numerical results are given that show the improved performance due to the left and right Gauss type preconditioners when used with Jacobi and Gauss-Seidel iterative methods.
