The authors consider the inverse heat conduction problem of recovering the temperature history in a heated hollow sphere with inner radius \(r_0\) and outer radius \(r= 1\) from measurements of the temperature on a sphere with radius \(r_1 \in (r_0,1)\) inside this body. Spherically symmetric solutions are considered, which permits the use of Fourier transforms (in the time direction) and an explicit construction of solutions. The solution from the usual Tikhonov regularization scheme is modified such that an explicit stability estimate can be proved. The estimate contains a logarithmic term that becomes small up to the inner boundary \(r=r_0\), where the usual Hölder estimate would become trivial.
