A singular point of a Poisson manifold \((M, \pi)\) is a point \(m\in M\) where \(\pi(m) =0.\) If the (\(k-1)\)-jet of \(\pi\) vanishes at \(m\) but not its \(k\)-jet (\(k>0\)), then \(m\) is a singular point of order \(k.\) In this work, the authors introduce a notion of stability of singular points of Poisson manifolds. By definiton, a singular point \(m\) of order \(k\) of a Poisson manifold \((M, \pi)\) is said to be \(k\)-stable if for every neighborhood \(\Omega\) of \(m\in M,\) there is a neighborhood of \(\pi\) in the space of bivector fields on \(M\) such that every Poisson structure in this neighborhood has a singular point of order \(k\) in \(\Omega.\) The first main result of this work is a sufficient condition which guarantees that a singular point of order \(k\) of \((M, \pi)\) is \(k\)-stable in the above sense. This criterion is given in terms of the classical Lichnerowicz-Poisson cohomology of \(\pi^{(k)},\) the \(k\)-homogeneous part of \(\pi\) at \(m.\) In particular, this generalizes the \(k=1\) result of Cranic and Fernandes. The authors also introduce a notion of stability of singular points for Lie algebroids. More precisely, if \(E\rightarrow M\) is a Lie algebroid, then \(m\in M\) is a singular point of order \(k\) if \(0_m\), the zero element of the fiber over \(m\), is a singular point of order \(k\) of the linear Poisson structure on \(E^{*};\) hence one can similarly define a notion of \(k\)-stability for algebroid singularity. In this case, by using the deformation cohomology for Lie algebroids as recently introduced by Cranic and Moerdijk, the authors are able to give a sufficient condition for a singular point of order \(k\) of a Lie algebroid \(E\rightarrow M\) to be \(k\)-stable. At the end of the paper, the authors give several examples of stable singular points of order \(k\geq 1\) for Poisson manifolds and Lie algebroids, they also apply their results to the pre-symplectic leaves of Dirac manifolds.
