The higher order difference equation \[ \begin{multlined} y(k+n)+p_{1}(k)y(k+n-1)+p_{2}(k)y(k+n-2)+\cdots +p_{n}(k)y(k) =\\ f\left( k,y(k),y(k+1),\dots,y(k+n-1),\sum_{s=k_{0}}^{k-1}g(k,s,y(s),\dots,y(s+n-1) \right)\end{multlined} \] for \(k=k_{0},k_{0}+1,\dots,\) is considered. The asymptotic behavior of this equation is studied by means of discrete Gronwall and Bihari type inequalities. In particular, assuming that \(p_{n}(k)\neq 0\) for \(k\geq k_{0},\) that the independent solutions of the corresponding homogeneous equation of the above equation are \(z_{1}(k),\dots,z_{n}(k),\) and that \(f\) and \(g\) and \( z_{1},\dots,z_{n}\) have appropriate stability properties (which are too cumbersome to state here), then every solution \(y(k)\) of the above equation is asymptotically of the form \[ y(k)=\sum_{i=1}^{n}(\delta _{i}+o(1))z_{i}(k), \] where \(\delta _{1},\dots,\delta _{n}\) are constants.
