An algebraic projective hypersurface \(V \subset \mathbb{P}^d\) is said \textit{canonical} if it has degree \(n \geq d+2\) and the moving part of the canonical system \(K_X\) of a desingularization \(\sigma: X \to V\) is cut out by the pull-back by \(\sigma\) of the linear system of hyperplane sections of \(V\). In particular the geometric genus of \(V\) is \(d+1\) and \(X\) is of general type. The study of canonical curves and surfaces is a classical matter and an interesting historical account of it can be found in the Introduction of the paper under review. In particular, it is of interest the construction of normal canonical hypersurfaces or the question of their possible existence: no normal canonical surfaces of degree \(\geq 7\) are known, for example. In the paper under review an explicit construction of normal, canonical hypersurfaces \(V \subset \mathbb{P}^d\), for any \(d \geq 4\) is presented (over a characteristic zero field). They are singular along the lines not passing through the first vertex of a fundamental \((d+1)\)-hedron in \(\mathbb{P}^d\) with proper multiplicites. The case of \(V\) of degree \(d+3\) and \(d-1\) the multiplicity of the singularities is studied in detail, computing some of its invariants and showing that its birational different from the trivial case of a degree \(d+2\) smooth (or with negligible singularities) canonical hypersurface.
