Quasi-Bézier curves with shape parameters (Q2375423)

Summary: The universal form of univariate quasi-Bézier basis functions with multiple shape parameters and a series of corresponding quasi-Bézier curves are constructed step-by-step in this paper, using the method of undetermined coefficients. The series of quasi-Bézier curves has geometric and affine invariability, the convex hull property, is symmetric, interpolating at the endpoints and has tangent edges at the endpoints, and its shape is adjustable while maintaining the control points. Various existing quasi-Bézier curves are special cases of the series. Numerical examples indicate that the algorithm is valid and easy to apply.
