The authors consider the nonlinear partial differential equation of the mixed type with one coefficient depending on the derivative of the unknown function. There are two variables. The boundary conditions are the given value of the derivative with respect to \(y\) on the given curve and the given value of the function on one of the characteristics. The main result is existence and uniqueness of the solution to this boundary value problem. It is proven using the hodograph transformation.
