Let \(X\) be a compact Riemann surface of genus \(g\geq 2\). Let \(S^n (X)\) be the symmetric product of \(X\), i.e., \(S^n (X)\) is the quotient of \(X^n\) by the natural permutation group. Because of the interests in the study of moduli space, \textit{M. Bökstedt} and \textit{N. M. Romão} [``On the curvature of vortex moduli spaces'', \url{arXiv:1010.1488}] prove that if \(n\leq 2(g-1)\), then \(S^n (X)\) does not admit any Kähler metric satisfying the condition that all holomorphic bisectional curvatures are nonnegative. The article under review gives a very simple and direct proof of the above result. In fact, the author shows that the degree of the anticanonical bundle of \(S^n (X)\) is negative. Therefore \(S^n (X)\) could not admit any metrics such that its bisectional curvatures are nonnegative.
