Let \(\mathbf{a}\) be a sequence consisting of reciprocals of odd integers greater than 2. The carpet \(S_{\mathbf{a}}\) is obtained by deleting the mid-squares iteratively according to the sequence \(\mathbf{a}\). A carpet \(S_{\mathbf{a}}\), equipped with the Euclidean distance and the measure \(\mu\), the weak limit of the Lebesgue measures restricted to the precarpets, supports a \(1\)-Poincaré inequality if and only if \(\mathbf{a} \in l^1\). On the other hand, the carpet \(S_{\mathbf{a}}\) supports a \(p\)-Poincaré inequality for some \(p>1\) if and only if \(\mathbf{a} \in l^2\).
