Let \(C\) be a nonempty closed convex subset of a uniformly convex and \(2\)-uniformly smooth Banach space \(E\) and \(f: C \rightarrow C\) be a contraction. Let \(\{T_i\}_{i=1}^{\infty}\) be a sequence of \(\lambda_i\)-strict pseudocontractive mappings of \(C\) into itself such that \(F= \bigcap_{i=1}^{\infty}\mathrm{Fix}\,(T_i)\neq \emptyset\). In order to solve the variational inequality \[ \left\langle q-f(q),j(q-p)\right\rangle \leq 0\text{ for all } q \in F \] (\(j\) denotes as usually the single-valued duality mapping), the authors consider a hybrid three-step iterative process \(\{x_n\}\) defined by means of the sunny nonexpansive retraction of \(E\) into \(C\). The main result of the paper (Theorem 3.1) states a convergence theorem for the above iterative process under rather sophisticated technical assumptions that are, however, not validated by an appropriate example.
