Let \(\alpha _{0} = \pm 1\), \(p: [a,\omega)\rightarrow (0,\infty )\) is a continuous function, \(-\infty <a<\omega \leq \infty \), \(Y_{0}\) is equal either to zero or to \(\pm \infty \), \(\Delta Y_{0}\) is a unilateral neighborhood of \(Y_{0}\) and \(L(y)\) a continuous slowly varying function in the sense of Karamata as \(y\rightarrow Y_{0}\). The author studies the equation \[ y'' = \alpha _{0}p(t)yL(y) \] under some growth conditions on both \(p(t)\) and \(L(y)\), gives some sharp conditions of the existence of a class of solutions and also presents the precise behavior of these solutions for \(t\rightarrow \infty \). The obtained results generalize those of Mousa Jaber Abu Elshour and the author for the case when \(L(y)\) is some special slowly varying function, e.g. \(L(y) = |\ln |y||^{\sigma }\).
