A Brody curve is a holomorphic map from the complex line \(\mathbb {C}\) to the complex projective space \(\mathbb{P}^n\) with bounded derivative with respect to the Euclidean metric on \(\mathbb{C}\) and the Fubini-Study metric on \(\mathbb{P}^n\). Theorem 1 says that for every Brody curve \(f:\mathbb{C}\to \mathbb{P}^1\) and for every \(a\in\mathbb{P}^1\) we have \[ T(r,f)=N(r,a,f)+O(r), \] using the standard notation of Nevanlinna theory. This generalizes a result of \textit{J. Clunie} and \textit{W. K. Hayman} [Comment. Math. Helv. 40, 117--148 (1966; Zbl 0142.04303)]. For curves in arbitrary dimension, the authors prove the following. Theorem 2. If a Brody curve \(f:\mathbb{C}\to\mathbb{P}^n\) omits \(n-1\) hyperplanes in general position, \(H\) is another hyperplane in general position with the omitted ones, and \(H\) does not contain \(f(\mathbb{C})\), then \[ T(r,f)=N(r,H,f)+O(r). \] This generalizes a result of \textit{M. Barrett} and \textit{A. Eremenko} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 140, No. 4, 1397--1402 (2012; Zbl 1248.32013)]. Theorem 3. If \(f:\mathbb{C}\to\mathbb{P}^n\) is a Brody curve, and \(H_j\) are \(q\) hyperplanes in general position not containing \(f(\mathbb{C})\), then \[ (q-n+1)T(r,f)\leq\sum_{j=1}^q N(r,H_j,f)+o(r^2). \] This improves for Brody curves the estimate in H. Cartan's Second Main Theorem, which has \((q-n-1)T(r)\) in the left hand side, at the expense of the worse error term. All proofs are based on methods of potential theory.
