The global solvability of the one-dimensional equations that govern miscible fluids in a porous medium is under consideration. The original equations of motion are reduced to three different parabolic systems. To avoid these difficulties, the following method is proposed. Its principal component is the transition to Lagrangian system that is used to determine Galerkin approximations for which one of the equations is satisfied exactly, and the second equation, approximately (in the sense of Galerkin). Then, by applying a change of variable, a similar result is established for parabolic systems.
