This paper is an abstract of an extended paper, to appear elsewhere (cf. [Russ. J. Math. Phys. 15, No. 2, 246--266 (2008; Zbl 1176.35051)]). Nine theorems are stated without proof, involving the two basic concepts of weak coercivity (following a preceding paper of the authors \textit{D. V. Limanskiĭ} and \textit{M. M. Malamud} [Dokl. Math. 70, No. 1, 584--588 (2004; Zbl 1378.35105); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk 397, No. 4, 453--458 (2004)]), and secondly, that of quasi-ellipticity (as introduced by \textit{L.\,R.\thinspace Volevič} [Mat.\ Sb., N.\ Ser.\ 59 (101), supplement, 3--52 (1962; Zbl 0161.07801)]). The basic function space in which the discussion is carried out is the Sobolev space \(W^l_p(\Omega)\), \(\Omega\) an arbitrary domain in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and \(l= (l_1,l_2,\dots, l_n)\in \mathbb{N}^n\) denotes a multi-index. As it appears from the title of the paper, these two concepts are not equivalent, in general. In Theorem 4, the paper provides a representation of operators which are weakly coercive in a Sobolev space \(W^l_\infty(\mathbb{R}^2)\) and, under some restrictions, are weakly coercive in other Sobolev spaces. Another statement is a conjecture about a possible case of equivalence of the concepts under discussion.
