The author devotes the paper to provide classification results of germs at \(0 \in {\mathbb K}^2\) -- \({\mathbb K}\) being either the field \({\mathbb R}\) or \({\mathbb C}\) -- of plane curves (in the categories \(C^\infty\), real-analytic or holomorphic) with respect to the group of local diffeomorphisms preserving the foliations of \({\mathbb K}^2\) given by the phase curves of a fixed (germ of) vector field \(\omega\). These local diffeomorphisms are named symmetries of the foliation. The case of nonsingular curves and nonsingular foliations is a trivial part of the problem. For the remaining cases the author introduces the concept of multiplicity of a pair formed by a curve and a vector field. Also introduces the concept of \(k\)-determinacy of a plane curve by the group of symmetries of the foliation given by \(\omega\) and states theorems of finite determinacy which are proved at the end of the paper. As a consequence of those theorems, arbitrary singularities of curves are classified for any vector field which is illustrated in sections 4, 5 and 6 by corollaries in the cases of nonsingular/singular curves and foliations.
