Denote by \(\text{ Diff}(M)\) the space of diffeomorphisms of a closed \(C^\infty\) manifold \(M\) endowed with the \(C^1\)-topology, and let \(C_f(p)\) be the chain component (or the chain recurrence class) of \(f \in \text{ Diff}(M)\) containing a hyperbolic saddle periodic point \(p\). In [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 28, No. 3, 987--1029 (2008; Zbl 1147.37015)], the reviewer proved that if \(C_f(p)\) is \(C^1\)-stably shadowable and \(C_f(p)\)-germ of \(f\) is expansive, then the set \(C_f(p)\) is the hyperbolic homoclinic class of \(p\) (the converse is true). Here we say that \(C_f(p)\) is \(C^1\)-stably shadowable, if (roughly speaking) \(f : C_f(p) \to C_f(p)\) has the shadowing property and the property is preserved under \(C^1\)-small perturbation of the map. In this paper under review, the authors removed the germ-expansivity condition from the above result. More precisely, it is proved here that the set \(C_f(p)\) is \(C^1\)-stably shadowable if and only if it is the hyperbolic homoclinic class of \(p\).
