Let \(f\) be a transcendental meromorphic function in the plane. We define \(f\) belongs to the class \(B\) if the set of finite critical and asymptotic values of \(f\) is bounded. The function \(f\) belongs to the class \(S\) if the singular set is finite. The author considers whether rational functions can be Nevanlinna deficient for the derivatives of such functions. For the class \(B\), the author obtained the following result. Let \(f\in B\) be of finite order, and let \(n\) be a positive integer. Let \(h\) be a rational function, not zero at infinity. Then \(\delta(0,f^{(n)}-h)=0\). For the class \(S\), the author obtained three theorems in this paper. One of the results is the following. If \(f\in S\) then \(\delta(0,f'-h)=0\), where \(h\) is defined above.
