Let \(k\) be any field. The Cremona group of the plane corresponds to the group of \(k\)-automorphisms of the field \(k(x_1,x_2)\). If \(G\) is a finite subgroup of this group, and \(k\) is algebraically closed, then \(k(x_1,x_2)^{G}\) is rational over \(k\) by Zariski-Castelnuovo's Theorem. In this article, the authors study a special case when \(G\) has order \(2\), and is generated by the map \(\sigma(x_1)=-x_1(3x_1-9x_2-x_2^2)^3/(27x_1+2x_1^2+9x_1x_2+2x_1x_2^2-x_2^3)^2\), \(\sigma(x_2)=-(3x_1+x_2^2)(3x_1-9x_2-x_2^2)/(27x_1+2x_1^2+9x_1x_2+2x_1x_2^2-x_2^3)\). They prove that \(k(x_1,x_2)^{\sigma}\) is rational, for any field \(k\), and provide some new techniques, hoping that these could be useful for other examples.
