A vector-valued multiresolution analysis is presented for dilation factors larger or equal than two. The construction of orthogonal vector-valued scaling functions and wavelets is given together with a characterization of the cardinal orthogonal vector-valued wavelet system by its mask and symbol. Finally, some examples for constructing compactly supported cardinal orthogonal vector-valued wavelets are given.
